Let's build a low-emission future together

Sofidel has established ambitious decarbonization targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aiming to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% per tonne of paper and Scope 3 emissions by 24% by 2030, against a 2018 baseline. To support this commitment, the Group pursues a diversified strategy to expand the use of renewable energy, tailored to the climatic, infrastructural, and regulatory context of each market where it operates.

Net Zero 2050: solid action for a tomorrow with zero emissions

In addition to its medium-term targets, Sofidel is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Achieving Net Zero requires going beyond emission reductions. Emissions must be reduced to the lowest feasible level, while residual emissions must be neutralized through carbon removal. Sofidel is therefore focused on cutting emissions at source and supporting carbon removal initiatives, including beyond its value chain. Through the adoption of advanced technologies, renewable energy, and innovative solutions, the Group aims to further reduce its environmental footprint and contribute to long-term value creation.

Since 2008, Sofidel has been the first Italian company and the first in the world in the tissue sector to have joined the WWF Climate Savers programme, now the WWF Climate Business Network.

SBTi

Sofidel's targets have been validated by SBTi (Science Based Target Initiative), an organisation that works for climate action and enables companies and financial institutions to play their part in combating the climate crisis.

CDP

Since 2022 Sofidel has been in the Leadership Band for the CDP climate rating, standing out with a higher score than its sector.
