Forest Protection

Responsible management to safeguard the future

Forests are a vital ecosystem for climate, biodiversity and global well-being. Sofidel is committed to protecting them through responsible policies and firm actions, ensuring a sustainable, certified supply chain to preserve these essential resources for future generations.

Responsible management of forest resources

Through collaboration with WWF Italy and adherence to the principles of the Accountability Framework Initiative (AFi), Sofidel has drafted a Forest Goods Procurement Policy, which promotes the following principles.

Develop and maintain a supply chain free from deforestation and forest degradation.

Activate controls in high-risk forestry countries to ensure legality and respect for the human and traditional rights of workers and indigenous peoples.

Ensure a third-party certified supply chain with the main standards of good forest management.

Zero deforestation

A solid commitment to protect ecosystems

Sofidel uses only FSC® and PEFC-certified pulp, ensuring traceability and sustainability throughout the supply chain. The raw material comes mainly from Northern Europe and South America, with strict controls to prevent deforestation and protect ecosystems, in line with the principles of the Accountability Framework Initiative and with the support of WWF.

We work with global partners to safeguard forests

Sofidel works with global partners to protect forests and biodiversity. With the WWF Forest Forward programme and the Together We Plant the Future project, we promote ecosystem conservation and reforestation. Our commitment is also recognised by the CDP Forests rating, which for many years has given Sofidel a rating in the Leadership range, confirming responsible management of forest resources and the fight against deforestation.

Sofidel participates in the WWF Forest Forward programme, committing to reducing deforestation, protecting forests and restoring natural ecosystems.

CDP Forests

Sofidel has for years had access to the Leadership band of the CDP Forest rating.

Together We Plant the Future

With the Together We Plant the Future initiative, in cooperation with Suzano, Sofidel is promoting a pilot project for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the Amazon, contributing to the protection of areas of highest ecological value.
