The line joins the traditional range and represents a new contribution towards environmental sustainability by the Sofidel Group.<\/strong>\n\nRotoloni Regina Eco, which retain the same product quality<\/strong> that the Italians have learned to love over the past 30 years, are now packaged in<\/strong> kraft paper<\/strong> \u2013 a plant-based material that is renewable and easy to recycle \u2013 instead of standard polyethylene film. They are also manufactured using electricity from 100% renewable sources<\/strong>, generated at the Sofidel production plants.\n\n\u201cRotoloni Regina keep looking to the future,\u201d <\/em>says Philippe Defacqz, Sofidel Line of Business Director \u2013 Brand<\/strong>. \u201cIf their arrival on the market created a new product category for Nielsen, in the form of the maxi-rolls, with the Rotoloni Regina Eco line today\u2019s aim is to meet growing demand for attention to the environment by consumers and, above all, to help fight pollution from plastics.\u201d<\/em>\n\nThanks to Regina and the other major European Sofidel brands<\/strong> \u2013 Cosynel, Nalys, Le Tr\u00e8fle, Sopalin and KittenSoft \u2013 this contribution looks set to eliminate the equivalent of 600 tonnes of plastic a year from packaging by the end of 2020.<\/strong> The strategy involves the replacement or accompaniment of existing products with those wrapped in paper packaging<\/strong>.\n\nThis is part of an overall goal set by the Sofidel Group: a 50% reduction in the use of conventional plastic in its production by 2030 <\/strong>(compared to 2013), which is equivalent to the elimination of over 11,000 tonnes of plastic released onto the market every year <\/strong>(from 2030 onwards). A goal pursued not only with the introduction of the new kraft paper packaging<\/strong> but simultaneously with a general reduction in the thickness of the plastic film <\/strong>used in the production process (launched some years ago), and the progressive use<\/strong>, on some markets, of recycled plastics or bioplastics<\/strong>.\n\nThis new phase of the sustainability strategy<\/strong> \u2013 developed with particular focus on the 12th<\/sup> Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, Responsible Consumption and Production<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 is consequential to and consistent with the policies and investments made by Sofidel in recent years<\/strong> in terms of:\n
    \n\t
  • responsible procurement of raw material <\/strong>(100% cellulose certified by independent third parties in compliance with forestry certification schemes);<\/li>\n\t
  • energy-efficient plants<\/strong> (over 100 million euros in investments in cogeneration, photovoltaic, hydroelectric and biomass energy over a period of 10 years \u2013 2009\/2018);<\/li>\n\t
  • rational use of water resources<\/strong> within production processes (7.1 l\/kg against a sector benchmark of 15-25 l\/kg);<\/li>\n\t
  • technological innovation of production assets<\/strong> (Advantage New Tissue Technology (NTT) paper machines by Valmet and Constellation converting lines by Fabio Perini).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
