{"id":7184,"date":"2026-03-26T12:15:58","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T12:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sofidel.com\/?post_type=comunicato&#038;p=7184"},"modified":"2026-03-27T08:40:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T08:40:19","slug":"sofidel-accelerates-decarbonization-with-a-new-biomass-boiler-in-france","status":"publish","type":"comunicato","link":"https:\/\/www.sofidel.com\/en\/press-releases\/sofidel-accelerates-decarbonization-with-a-new-biomass-boiler-in-france\/","title":{"rendered":"Sofidel accelerates decarbonization with a new biomass boiler in France"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>The Group, which is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding this year, continues its innovation journey within its production facilities in Europe and the United States<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Porcari (Lucca), Italy, 26 March 2026&nbsp;\u2013 <\/em><strong>Sofidel<\/strong>, among the global leaders in the production of paper for hygienic and household use, known particularly in Italy and across Europe for its Regina brand, <strong>continues its commitment to decarbonization by bringing a new biomass boiler into operation at its Sofidel France facility in Frouard<\/strong>, in the Grand Est region of France.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by ADEME (<em>Agence de la Transition \u00c9cologique<\/em>) under the BCIAT 2022 program (<em>Biomasse Chaleur Industrie, Agriculture et Tertiaire<\/em>), the new boiler will generate steam currently generated using natural gas, enabling an <strong>estimated annual reduction of 9,100 metric tons of CO<\/strong><strong><sub>2<\/sub><\/strong><strong> emissions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A biomass boiler has already been in operation at the Frouard site since 2014. Together, the two boiler units will cover <strong>95% of the steam required to heat the drying cylinders of the plant\u2019s two paper machines<\/strong>. Natural gas will be used only during peak demand periods and as backup, accounting for approximately 5% of the total demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor Sofidel, the journey toward decarbonization is not only a regulatory requirement, but a clear industrial choice.
