The biennial document of the WWF dedicated, in this edition, to the Anthropocene, was presented today in Rome in the Chamber of Deputies with the participation of Chamber President Laura Boldrini.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofidel, the tissue paper production Group known in Italy for the Regina brand in particular, supports the Italian edition of the Living Planet Report, the WWF reference document that takes stock of the state of the Earth\u2019s natural systems and the solutions to undertake to lead our society towards truly sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, the report, published biennially, analyses the services that ecosystems offer human well-being and the possible effects produced by climate change, presenting various scenarios, linked to our environmental footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2016 edition is titled \u201cLiving Planet Report: Risk and resilience in a new era\u201d, in reference to the geological age in which we are living, the Anthropocene. This definition, coined by Paul Crutzen, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, intends to stress the exceptional character of human intervention in the planet\u2019s natural systems: man is absolutely central to the Anthropocene, his actions capable of affecting factors such as the climate and the earth\u2019s surface, modifying their natural dynamics. Precisely in relation to this, the current process of transformation must be studied, learning to monitor and manage it as effectively as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe consider our support in distributing this important report,<\/em>\u201d stated Luigi Lazzareschi, CEO of the Sofidel Group and Ambassador of the 50th Anniversary of WWF Italy, \u201ca further decisive demonstration of our commitment to promote sustainable development. Sofidel believes in effective collaboration between governments, businesses and civil society and in the task of raising awareness and providing information.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofidel\u2019s commitment to the environment has taken concrete form for some time in a series of initiatives, many of which alongside WWF, to support good practice for limiting environmental impact, reducing waste and promoting responsible consumption, within a \u201cLess is more\u201d<\/strong> philosophy that characterises the Group\u2019s activity in its entirety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Precisely this desire to promote the spread of responsible conduct has led Sofidel to intervene at the level of education, supporting the schools\u2019 project \u201cMi curo di te! Il gesto di ognuno, per il Pianeta di tutti<\/strong>\u201d (I\u2019ll take care of you: individual actions for everyone\u2019s planet) organised by the WWF to raise awareness of major environmental issues, which has recorded participation from more than 4,700 classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, Sofidel, between 2009 and 2015, has already reduced its direct CO2<\/sub> emissions by 17,8%, through investments in energy efficiency and through the use of cogeneration systems and renewable energy sources. Other fundamental areas of activity concern the procurement of cellulose from certified and controlled sources (FSC\u00ae<\/sup>, PEFC\u2122, SFI\u2122), and safeguarding water resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the Group\u2019s CEO, Luigi Lazzareschi<\/strong>, has been appointed Ambassador of the 50th <\/sup>anniversary of WWF Italy<\/strong> \u201cfor his constant attention to the issue of environmental sustainability and his firm commitment alongside the WWF Climate Savers programme\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 5 million supporters, a presence in about 100 countries and more than 2,000 projects begun, the WWF\u00a0\u2013 World Wide Fund for Nature\u00a0\u2013 is the world\u2019s largest nature conservation organisation. Thanks to the support or citizens and the involvement of institutions and businesses, the WWF contributes to the conservation of natural systems and works to initiate processes of change that lead to sustainable living, acting with innovative methods capable of bringing together the best cultural, social and economic resources. The panda logo, among the world\u2019s most widely recognised, symbolises commitment and effectiveness in protecting ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
