Few things are more precious than water. But sometimes we forget it. Or we think we can have as much as we want, forever, like when we see it flowing from our tap at home.
A huge amount, if you think about it. However, a very small proportion can be used for food or agriculture: only
0,08%
of the planet’s water
A very tiny figure that will become even smaller in the next twenty years, when the consumption of unsalted water will grow by 40%.
Our commitment, drop by drop.
The scenario is not the rosiest. This is why businesses need to do their part too.
We at Sofidel are already committed, first of all, to limiting water consumption in our production processes. We also work every day with organizations like WaterAid, to raise people’s awareness and ensure access to water and better sanitation in some countries south of the equator. A few figures: in 2016, the average consumption of our activities was 7,0 litres of water per kg of paper produced, compared to an industry average of 15 – 25 litres.Modest results, of course. However, they drive us to want to do even more.
