Adidas and Parley: savings the oceans together

Adidas and Parley: savings the oceans together

A collaboration born over two years ago to protect the oceans: In April 2015, Adidas announced their partnership with Parley for the Oceans to produce shoes made of recycled waste from the sea.

Since the market launch of UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley, the first shoes made with Parley Ocean Plastic™ (every pair uses 11 plastic bottles), Adidas has designed new products with this recycled material and is committed to producing one million pairs of the shoes by the end of 2017.

The collaboration does not stop here. For World Oceans Day (8th June 2017) and The Ocean Conference held by the United Nations in New York (5th-9th June 2017), the Run for the Oceans initiative was launched. For one week, runners from around the world took part in a “digital run” supported by Runtastic, world leader in app technology.

The runners, as well as showing their commitment to the environment, were able to download Back to the Oceans to listen to while they ran, giving advice on avoiding the use of plastics in our daily lives and protecting the seas.

The collaboration between Parley and Adidas hopes to set new industry standards and enhance eco-innovation to find long-term solutions to stopping the pollution of our oceans.
