Sofidel hosts in Lucca the 2nd edition of the Italian Business SDGs Annual Forum of the Global Compact Network Italy Foundation
More than 100 businesses and organisations gathered to promote the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
The second edition of the Italian Business & SDGs Annual Forum has been held in Lucca today. This event has been promoted by the Global Compact Network Italy Foundation (GCNI Foundation) in collaboration with Sofidel, the tissue production group known for the Regina brand and one of the Founding and Promoting members of the Foundation.
The Forum aims to give a boost in Italy to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development from the United Nations, and has brought together more than 100 representatives including big companies, SMEs, organisations in civil society, Institutions, Universities and research bodies.
The day’s work aimed towards designing “Collective Actions” on the part of business and non-business agents involved in supporting the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) incorporated in the UN 2030 Agenda.
“The new global Agenda, adopted in September 2015 by the governments of the UN’s 193 member countries, is a plan of action for people, the planet and prosperity that requires an integrated approach to sustainable development and collective action, at all levels, to take on the challenges of our time,” recalls Marco Frey, Chairman of the GCNI Foundation. “Consequently, the second edition of the Forum – with the subtitle “From Saying to Doing” – has been handled according to a participatory logic through working groups with some themes for discussion linked to the SDGs considered as a priority at a national level. The actions that are planned will be carried out in 2018 with the coordination of the GCNI Foundation.”

The iniziative has been promoted by Global Compact Network Italy Foundation in collaboration with Sofidel, that has hosted the event, and with the support of A2A and Edison. The event also obtained the patronage of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, of the Municipality of Lucca and of the business association Confindustria Toscana Nord – Lucca, Pistoia e Prato.
