On the 22th of March, the World Water Day, Sofidel will present its new partnership with WaterAid at the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation in Milan. This international non-profit association works to ensure access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Sofidel will propose an opportunity for reflection and in-depth consideration of water resources, curated by the Feltrinelli Foundation, and will present its 2016 Integrated Report.
The launch of the partnership is accompanied by a photo exhibition organised by WaterAid entitled “Water is Life” which provides a narrative account of WaterAid’s presence in the countries where it operates, going over the activity of the association in 3 different areas (Southern Asia, Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa). In particular, the images relate to:
-the provision of toilets to the shanty towns of New Delhi, in India
-the placement of young people at risk of criminal involvement in work to build wells, cisterns and toilets in Nicaragua, where microcredit programmes directed towards the poorest communities are also being tested
-initiatives to alleviate drought/extreme flooding in Madagascar
-the safeguarding of drinking water in Burkina Faso, with training of specialist technicians able to carry out maintenance work
Installed in the Reading Room of the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation (viale Pasubio, 5), the exhibition can be visited free of charge from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on Thursday, 23 March, and from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday the 24th.
