“Protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems”

Sofidel’s commitment to safeguarding forest assets: 100% of the pulp used as raw material is certified by independent third parties with forest certification schemes and, more specifically, the FSC and PEFC.

All consumer brand production and most of the distributor’s brand is FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council®), a non-governmental and independent organisation, created to promote the responsible management of forests and plantations and today perhaps the most widespread and respected one, globally. Sofidel has also recently signed up to the Vancouver Declaration launched at the FSC General Assembly.

To raise awareness of the issue of safeguarding natural capital, Sofidel organised an event for our stakeholders in Feltrinelli entitled: “Natural Capital. Giving Value to our Riches”. The meeting was intended as an opportunity for reflection and analysis of the “value” of nature: being a fundamental asset for our well-being and development and, therefore, for our economy and our future. For many economists the time has come to update the logic and policies that govern our development, to propose a new economic paradigm which is capable of incorporating equity and respect for the fundamental rights of every human being with the biophysical limits of our Planet.

The e-book “The Water Factor. Hygiene, environment, ethics, economics” on the website of the Feltrinelli Foundation covers the main themes of the event.
